Keith Watenpaugh and Adrienne Fricke, “No More Lost Generations: The Syrian Refugee Crisis and Higher Education” (October 27, 2014)

Speakers: Prof. Keith David Watenpaugh and Adrienne Fricke, Human Rights Initiative, University of California, Davis

The crisis in Syria continues to have a devastating impact on professors, university students, and the education sector, not only in Syria but in neighboring countries that are hosting growing numbers of displaced Syrians. With support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Institute of International Education and UC Davis Human Rights Initiative teamed up to conduct fieldwork in the front-line hosting states of Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey to look at the impact, implications, and possible solutions for the Syrian students and their host communities. The Human Rights Initiative director and legal consultant will share these findings in a special presentation at the CMES.
