Let There Be Light: A Fundraiser for the Ambassador Stevens Memorial Fund

Established by the family and friends of the late Ambassador, the Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens Memorial Fund for Middle Eastern Studies is dedicated to deepening and extending knowledge of the Middle East and North Africa, particularly in the areas of culture, language, politics, and history. Through the Stevens Scholar program, the fund supports research and travel by graduate and undergraduate students who demonstrate a high level of distinction in Middle Eastern Studies.

This spring, friends and family of Ambassador Stevens will host a fundraiser on Saturday, April 25, 2015. All proceeds will be presented to the CMES for the Stevens Memorial Fund for Middle Eastern Studies, to support the travel and research of Stevens Scholars. The day begins with a golf tournament at Tilden Golf Course at 9:00 AM, and concludes with a 6:00 PM reception at UC Berkeley’s beautiful International House, including a talk by UCB alumnus and Middle East expert Glenn Robinson, remarks by this year’s Stevens Scholars, and a silent auction.

You may reserve your golf tournament participation with a donation of $150, or $125 for the reception alone.  A donation of $225 secures a place at both the golf tournament and the evening reception.  Please consider making an additional contribution (suggested amount $15) to sponsor a student(s) to attend the reception and talk at no charge. You may purchase your tickets online, or make a check payable to “Words and Deeds” (a non-profit fund established to support this event and other activities that were important to the late Ambassador) and send, with your name, postal and email addresses, and contact phone number, to:

C/O Steven McDonald
714 3rd Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94118

If you are unable to attend the April 25 activities, direct donations to the J. Christopher Stevens Fund at UC Berkeley can be made online.
