Amber Zambelli is the Outreach Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley. She earned her A.B. in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and conducted graduate study in Near Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley, where she focused on the archaeology of the pre-Islamic Arabian Peninsula. Her current research engages the intellectual history of archaeology and geography of the region, particularly the role of women in travel writing and historiography. She speaks Arabic (poorly) and several dead languages, and has lived and worked in Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel.
