An
endowment from the Mellon Foundation permits CMES to offer travel
grants to faculty, lecturers, visiting scholars, and graduate students.
Small grants are offered in two categories: research/travel grants,
and conference travel grants. Mellon research/travel grants are awarded
on a competitive basis, and support recipients to undertake short-term
research or language study pertaining to their research interests.
Mellon conference travel grants primarily pay for airfare for recipients
to attend conferences where they are scheduled to present scholarly
papers. The center awards as many as a dozen research/travel grants
per year. Each year CMES circulates information to all Middle East-related
faculty, lecturers, visiting scholars, and graduate students regarding
funding cycles and application requirements.
