Center for Middle Eastern Studies
Undergraduate Research Grant Program
2007-2008

Eligibility: U.C. Berkeley undergraduate students only. Priority will be given to students with declared majors or minors in Middle Eastern Studies.
   
Funding: Grants for up to $1,200 are available to defray the costs of domestic and international travel while conducting research for undergraduate senior thesis projects that focus on Middle East-related topics. Please note that this funding applies to airfare only, and that all grants will be paid as reimbursements upon completion of travel. Grantees will be required to provide specific travel documentation in order to receive reimbursement.
   
Application Deadline: November 2, 2007 at 4:00 PM
No late or email applications will be accepted. Funding may be used either during winter break or spring semester. Students not graduating in spring may use the funding during summer 2008.
   
How to Apply: Complete applications must include: 1) a cover letter detailing thesis project, 2) a complete expense budget (including airfare plus other expenses), and 3) a proposed itinerary including all destinations and dates of travel. Please indicate clearly the amount of funding requested from this program (airfare only) and any other funding sources available to you. Be certain to include your name, email address, phone number, year in school, major, thesis advisor's name, and U.C. Berkeley I.D. number in your cover letter.
