  12:30 - 2 p.m.
  340 Stephens Hall
  Dr. Mehnaz Afridi, Manhattan College

Dr. Afridi will discuss her journey with Judaism as a Muslim. Her book Shoah Through Muslim Eyes is based on the struggle of antisemitism within Muslim communities and her interviews with survivors. Rejecting polemical myths about the Holocaust and Jews, she will offer new ways of creating understanding of two communities through the acceptance and enormity of the Shoah. Her lecture will be both personal and academic where she will discuss her belief in Islam and principles of justice. She will ask the following questions: What do Muslims have to do with the Holocaust? Where were Muslims during the Holocaust? Did Muslims and Jews interact during World War II?
