The Romance Linguistics Working Group and Francophone Studies Working Group are pleased to announce an upcoming mini-colloquium, set for April 5, 2017. We invite all of you who work with Romance languages in conjunction with literature or linguistics, be it in contemporary or historical contexts, to join us. The theme of our event is "Romance outside Europe." This broad theme is meant to evoke the use of Romance languages in postcolonial contexts and/or these languages in contact with other languages. Ideal presentations deal with a small amount of interesting data, be it a poem, transcribed conversation, advertisement, blog post, a historical letter, you name it. We look forward to exchanging ideas and reflections on Romance languages outside Europe!
Presentations are a maximum of 10 minutes. Please rsvp to elyseanneritchey@berkeley.edu by 3/24 with your topic and a title. Speaker slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
April 5, 2017, 12-1:30 pm in 4226 Dwinelle Hall. Lunch will be provided.
