The Islamic Texts Circle meets once a semester to introduce the broader CMES community to a critical academic discussion of Islamic traditions via its holy scripture, the Qur’an. Participants will gain exposure to historical contexts associated with key texts and explore the relationship between these passages and other sacred scriptures from the Jewish and Christian traditions.
The discussions are led by Islamic and Arabic Studies Professor and CMES Senior Research Scholar, Asad Ahmed.
All texts on the theme of discussion will be provided ahead of time. No prior experience is necessary. Please join us for this unique opportunity to learn about Islamic textual traditions in an academic setting. Fill out the form below to receive a copy of the readings.
