Building on the past success of the Islamic Texts Circle, we have expanded the scope of our project to encompass the three main Abrahamic religions. The newly developed Sacred Texts Circle meets once a semester to introduce the broader CMES community to a critical academic discussion of sacred traditions in Islam, Judaism, and Christianity via their holy scriptures. Participants will gain exposure to historical contexts associated with key texts and explore the relationship between passages across the Abrahamic faiths.
The discussions are moderated by Islamic and Arabic Studies Professor and CMES Chair Asad Ahmed, in collaboration with other faculty members.
All texts on the theme of discussion will be provided ahead of time. No prior experience is necessary. Please join us for this unique opportunity to learn about Islamic textual traditions in an academic setting. Fill out the form below to receive a copy of the readings.
