Faculty & Staff Learning Group on Israel-Palestine

Western Wall and Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem

The Center for Middle Eastern Studies announces a new learning group on the subject of Israel-Palestine exclusively for faculty and staff members. The learning group is intended for those without prior knowledge of the subject but who wish to further their understanding of the conflict, its history and on-campus impact in order to better address the needs of students and the UCB community.

The program for the learning group and its content will be designed and taught by CMES faculty, ensuring both a solid knowledge base and a diversity of perspectives. Participants will join for four sessions across each semester, held monthly. Lunch will be served for each session.

The learning group will begin with a single meeting offering a concise overview and background, held in May 2024. The full program will begin in September, with a new cohort for Spring term 2025.

If you are interested in joining, please sign up here. Participants will be limited, in order to encourage questions and discussion, so be sure to apply early.

Funding for the learning group comes from CMES and a grant from the University of California Office of the President Addressing Bias and Bigotry Program.

Funding for this project is provided by the University of California in response to a call for proposals from the campus community to address bias and bigotry on campus. The views and perspectives shared herein do not necessarily reflect the views of the university.
