Madeline Wyse is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures specializing in Rabbinic and Islamic studies and with a Designated Emphasis in Jewish Studies. Wyse is currently completing a dissertation project focused on early Islamic engagement with Rabbinic literature and is commencing a new project exploring the tensions and transformations in Jewish intellectual life during the classical Islamic period by way of an understudied corpus of late midrash. Wyse's reserach interests also include Rabbinic and Islamic legal theory and practice.
