The Sultan Conference Room at CMES (340 Stephens Hall) is available for rental for events, such as lectures, workshops, meetings, and film screenings. Please contact cmes@berkeley.edu for availability and reservations.
A/V Equipment
The Sultan Conference Room comes equipped with projector and screen, sound system, BluRay/DVD player, and wireless microphones. A laptop is also available for use. CMES staff will handle setup and operation of equipment. Any additional technical needs, such as audio or video recording, livestreaming, etc. must be coordinated separately, through a campus-approved vendor.
Capacity
The Sultan Conference Room holds a maximum of 50 people seated and 75 standing. The room can be arranged into three configurations: lecture/panel with seated audience; seminar, with 15-20 around a table and additional seated audience; and standing reception.
Hours
Room reservations are subject to CMES schedule and staff availability. Hours of regular operation are 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday during Fall and Spring academic terms. After-hours and weekend events will require an additional surcharge, as will events outside of Fall and Spring academic terms.
Fees
1-4 hour rental: $120 per hour
5-8 hour rental: $200 per hour
After-hours and weekend surcharge, Fall and Spring terms: $200
Summer and outside of term surcharge: $300
Room rental includes A/V equipment operation, furniture arrangment, and staff support.
Policies
Room reservations must be made more than seven days in advance. Reservations on shorter notice will incur a $200 surcharge.
Any additional equipment, services, furniture, or supplies are the renter's responsibility and must be coordinated through campus-approved vendors. The renter is responsible for any damage to equipment, facilities, or furnishings incurred during the event.
