Pelin Ensari

Pelin Ensari is entering her second year at Berkeley, having just declared her major to be Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. She plans to also pursue a Global Studies minor, focusing on the Middle East region. While she was born and raised in Orange County, California, Pelin’s family is originally Turkish; her parents moved from Istanbul to pursue a higher education in the States. As a result, she is fluent in Turkish and spends her summers visiting family in Turkey, and experiencing life as a citizen there too. She has recently begun to take Arabic, and is very excited to develop her language skills in order to better understand the MENA region as a whole. Pelin hopes to study abroad in a MENA country during her undergraduate experience, and would like to use her degree to participate in the political discourse surrounding the region. Specifically, Pelin is interested in enabling the MENA community in America to reach their full potential with regards to education, opportunities, and equality.
